New Music: Jessica 6

America’s fascination with electronic music has skyrocketed this past year. Friends who were haters of “techno” six months ago are now sporting candy to class and counting down the days to EDC. Thanks to these naïve, beat-thirsty electro-heads, mainstream dance music has become overbearingly polluted with the ear-throbbing dubstep and obnoxious computer noises from the likes of Steve Aoki and the Bloody Beetroots. So it’s a serious treat when an artist comes along who knows how to get funky. To all you ravers who actually like to dance, get your hands on the debut album of Brooklyn-based electronic trio Jessica 6, See the Light. Comprised of three former members of the disco-electro group, Hercules and the Love Affair, Jessica 6 channels that old-school retro funk that was made for grooving. Get ready to shimmy over to the dance-floor after checking out the album’s single, “Prisoner of Love.”
