The French trio, We are Enfant Terrible, are hitting the electro-pop scene with thrilling intensity. Passionate, unique, and obsessed with old-school video games, the three Lille natives are a dirty mixture of quirky awesomeness. Combining elements of electronic, indie rock, punk, and 8-bit noises, We are Enfant Terrible create a funky sound that everyone, from edgy hipster to candy raver, can vibe. The group consists of vocalist Clo Floret, Thomas Fourney on guitar, keys, and backup vocals, and drummer Cyril Debarge whose knack for producing Game-boy style music somehow seeps into every track. After the November release of their debut EP, “Thanks For The Fish,” We are Enfant Terrible immediately attracted worldwide attention. Their 8-bit crazy, sassy dance beats are simply infectious. Responding to the fever, the French trio released a pair of singles, “Wild Child” and “Flesh ‘n’ Blood Kids,” that are now being re-released on their upcoming debut, Explicit Pictures, set to drop on April 5th. Legendary Hip-Hop DJ and Producer, DJ Vadim, has been hard at work constructing his latest musical project, collectively named The Electric. With a resume of beat-making for names including Stevie Wonder, the Roots, Erykah Badu, and Fat Freddy’s Drop, “Daddy Vadim” has proven his musical ingenuity through his collaborations. The Russian native is also known for his remarkable ability to scout rising talent, and in the last year DJ Vadim has focused on his new brainchild, the Electric. Hand picked from opposite ends of the globe, the group consists of Chicago-based, underground Hip-Hop artist, Pugs Atmoz, and the emerging UK soulful singer/songwriter, Sabira Jade. The trio embodies an innovative fusion of Hip-Hop, Soul, R&B, and electronic, giving them a totally unexplored sound. World-renowned Hip-Hop DJ and Producer, DJ Vadim, is proud to present his latest creation: The Electric. Combining the talents of fresh underground Chicago rapper Pugs Atomz and UK singer/songwriter Sabira Jane, Vadim has created a powerful trio that is ready to show the world their diverse musical skills. The Electric’s sound is essentially Hip-Hop, but draws from other genres of Soul, R&B, and electronic. The group released their debut album, Life is Moving, on March 14th. Coupled with a spot at this year’s SXSW, the Electric’s debut is sure to establish this group in the up and coming Hip-Hop scene. The success of Mac Miller’s “K.I.D.S.” had the blogosphere buzzing about the new fresh kid from Pittsburgh, PA. Miller’s much anticipated follow up “Best Day Ever” dropped on March 11th for free and picks up where his last mixtape “K.I.D.S.” left off, reminding everyone to chill out, roll up some herb, and enjoy life. Mac’s latest release will solidify his place among the hottest names in hip-hop, but “Best Day Ever” struggles to maintain momentum and ultimately leaves fans wishing for more lyrical and artistic growth.
Can it be possible that OFWGKTA, emerging on the music scene just last year with disturbingly raunchy raps, is already closing the mtvU Woodie Awards? Apparently so. Rising to the forefront of the Hip-Hop scene in the blink of an eye with a hostile takeover via online, the Odd Future gang now has the world of pop culture mesmerized. Tyler, the Creator and his cohorts stole the show, with a performance complete with ski-masks, rainbow gnomes, dancing stuffed-animals, crowd-surfing, and yes, a swagged-out midget.
